_5/5 Stars: Great Place!
Guest: Andrew Date of stay: 08/11/13; Review Submitted: 08/19/13 We had a great stay at Allen's place The Benhams Lodge. Quiet, clean, comfortable, there was nothing more we could ask for. The owner had a well stocked kitchen with all of the essentials. The property was nice to walk and well maintained. Allen stopped by to say hello and we invited him in for a visit. Lovely guy, great host. We'd highly recommend staying here for a peaceful retreat from the busy world out there. Very proximate to everything. 5/5 Stars: Best Rental EVER! Guest: Chel Date of stay: 07/25/13; Review Submitted 08/01/13 Benhams Lodge is a fantastic place to stay. I cannot recommend it highly enough! We fly into the Tri Cities area several times a year to visit our 3 children and grandbabies and have rented from Abingdon to Boone Lake. Our entire family agreed that Benhams Lodge was absolutely fantastic and they loved the homey feel and country setting. Believe me, the pictures of this home do "not" do it justice. This home was hidden in trees and is virtually invisible from the road. My grown daughter thoroughly enjoyed the cucumber garden and the blueberry bush (I just hope that she left some for the next visitors!). In addition, I have photographic evidence that my grown sons enjoyed the Guitar Hero game a little too much! There is plenty of parking and the lodge is sparkling clean. The owner Allen was a peach of a guy and the thoughful host had the house stocked with bowls of snacks and bottles of water (super nice touch). We enjoyed sitting on the wrap-around porch, rocking in the rocking chairs while we laughed and talked and the creek running in front of the property added to the magical setting. If you don't mind the beautiful country drive (10-15 minute) from restaurant row at exit 7, then this is the place to be. My parents in their mid 70s visited also and between the 2 of them have several mechanical body parts (knees & hips) and I am happy to say that they had no trouble manuvering into the house and the first floor master bedroom worked perfectly for them. Benham's Lodge is a hidden treasure. We will certainly be back! 5/5 Stars: Country setting Guest: Archie Date of stay: 05/15/13; Review Submitted: 05/21/13 This home was an excellent home away from home. We felt at home with all of the amenities, just bring your suit cases and food the rest is provided. The home owners were excellent hosts and provided all information to include the surrounding areas. The home was very clean and well maintained, True to the VRBO description in appearance. We will stay again! I highly recommend this home rather than staying in a hotel if your in the area. 5/5 Stars: We had a wonderful time Guest: ophelea Date of stay: 08/09/12; Review Submitted: 02/15/13 We were in town and met my mother who came in from NC and the house was perfect, the rooms were great and my three kids really enjoyed practicing guitar hero. The property is gorgeous tucked into the hill with the stream. 5/5 Stars: What a wonderful place! Guest: The Gilberts (Vermont) Date of Stay: 08/19/12; Review Submitted: 08/28/12 My stay at the Benhams Lodge was wonderful. The house was just as it was pictured on the website. It was very clean and nicely decorated. The property owners thought of everything, right down to some essential items in the cupboards like spices, coffee, sugar, etc. I would highly recommend this rental! 5/5 Stars: A home away from home. Guest: Kelli and Family (Arizona) Date of Stay: 07/17/12; Review Submitted: 08/12/12 Absolutely perfect in every way for our 2 week family vacation, visiting relatives in the area. We were even able to entertain family here instead of always visiting in their homes. And the great wrap a round porch proved just perfect for it. Two families could enjoy this comfortably with privacy. As the downstairs has a master bedroom and bath. And the upstairs has 2 more bedrooms, a full bath and a small living area between the bedrooms as well. In 3 words CLEAN, COMFORTABLE AND COZY. The owner was very helpful and accommodating and generous. Thank you, again, very much. We would definitely recommend this to others. Benhams Lodge made our vacation at least 10 times better than we could have expected. 5/5 Stars: Wedding Weekend Guest: Lisa and Dan (Richmond) Date of Stay: 06/01/12; Review Submitted: 06/14/12 We had a wonderful experience and enjoyed the night sounds on the porch. Thanks so very much! 5/5 Stars: Great weekend Guest: Nancy (Durham NC) Date of Stay: 03/30/12; Review Submitted: 04/06/12 My family enjoyed staying at Benhams Lodge on our weekend trip to Bristol. The online photos don't do it justice! We found the property to be very comfortable, clean, spacious, and pleasing to the eye. The snacks and beverages were a thoughtful touch. Family members who live in Bristol were so impressed that they plan on recommending the property to their friends who might need lodging in the future. The owner was easy to work with throughout the whole rental process. We would definitely stay here again! 5/5 Stars: Wonderfully peaceful and inviting Guest: Luke (Jacksonville, NC) Date of Stay: 03/16/12; Review Submitted: 03/19/12 Our extended weekend stay was perfect in every aspect. The owners of the lodge are extremely helpful and willing to go the extra mile to ensure visitors have the most enjoyable and relaxing experience. A wonderful 10-15 minute scenic drive from shopping/dining. From the nice cozy feel of the upstairs to the fine master bedroom everything was perfect. The wrap around porch was great for those early mornings and late evenings spent enjoying the rush of the creek flowing by. A must stay for anyone coming to the area. 5/5 Stars: WE LOVED IT! Guest: Becky (Fort Myers, FL) Date of Stay: 12/27/11; Review Submitted: 01/02/12 We stayed here this past week while visiting Bristol, for the Arby's Classic basketball tournament. The house was WONDERFUL! Very clean and updated. Just 10 to 15 minutes from most anywhere we needed to be. The owner was extremely helpful and accessible whenever we had a question or needed some assistance. We would definitely stay here again. 5/5 Stars: Great service! Guest: Dan and Rachel (Winston Salem, NC) Date of Stay: 09/16/11; Review Submitted: 10/04/11 I would just like to echo the previous comments. It was great to have snacks provided. A fantastic place to stay, and although I did not get the chance to meet Allen in person, he was always very pleasant and helpful on the phone. And he was even nice enough to gather two items we left behind and mail them back to us in North Carolina! Thanks a bunch, and we will definitely stay here again when we return to the area. 5/5 Stars: Exceeds expectations Guest: DavidG (Raleigh Area - NC) Date of Stay: 06/17/11; Review Submitted: 06/23/11 Our expectations were exceeded during our stay. The owners were most helpful and accommodating in every aspect. The cabin was furnished with extra touches that demonstrated the owner's care for the guests. A well equipped kitchen complete with coffee filters, coffee, sugar, creamer, spices and more. Snacks and popcorn set out. . . .even marshmallows & graham crackers for s'mores and ice cream. Comfortable beds with pillow top mattress, fans in many rooms and a wonderful wrap around porch with a table to eat at together with a number of chairs for relaxing added to the experience. 20-25 minutes to Bristol made it convenient as well. We would definitely come again. 5/5 Stars: Wonderful Weekend Guest: Gary (Northwest Kentucky) Date of Stay: 06/10/11; Review Submitted: 06/13/11 We were extremely please with our stay at The Benhams Lodge. We did drive by it when we first approached long after dark, but it was exactly where it was described. The owner was accommodating with our late arrival. The pictures on the site do not do justice to the cabin. There were snacks on the counter, bottled water in the fridge, even a little something in the freezer. The three bedrooms are very comfortable. The master bedroom has a nice walk in closet, a large bathroom, and plenty of room to get around the bed. The two bedrooms upstairs share a bathroom with a small common area in between. There is a half bath just off the kitchen. We brought an Xbox 360 and used with the tv. The wrap around porch was very comfortable for sitting outside talking, relaxing, and listening to "the creak" flow by. The lodge was very clean and the owner very helpful (ie, when we asked for places to eat). We would recommend this lodge to friends, and if we revisit the area, we will stay here again. There are many attractions close by and the 'big tourist areas' of Gaitlinburg, etc are near enough. We loved Machiavelli's pizza! |
